Appointed by the Senior Partor, the Deacon's Ministry serves alongside the Ministers and Elders in the pastoral ministries of SHSC.

The glory of young men is their strength (Proverb 20:29) Our mission is to develop strong friendships and accountability among the men of SHSC through regular gatherings and group interaction, and ultimately build the character of Jesus Christ into every man who involves himself with the Men's Ministry.

Project Lifeline - HIV/AIDS Ministy
To live the Gospel mandate by reaching out to all in need of hope and consolation, to educate and to compassionately respond without judgement to those infected with or affected by the HIV disease.

SWEET THANG CHEESECAKES
The Gourmet Delight Cheesecake Fundraiser Event will be conducted from Sunday, January 22nd through Tuesday, January 31, 2012. All cheesecakes will be delivered on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Let’s beat our last sales total of 562 cakes. Special Valentine Day Cheesecakes available see Romona Smith for order sheets.

Cupid Shuffle:
“Couples Game Night” This night will consist of fun, laughter, fellowshipping, games, food, and music. Couples must work as a team with a focus on communication, leadership, quick-thinking, cooperation, and competitiveness all done in the spirit of amusement and enjoyment. Pre-Registration is requested!
My Funny Valentine:
“Flaws & All - Seminar & Workshop” Our speaker for the workshop will be our very own Elder James Robinson. Do you accept your spouse for the person they are right now [flaws and all], and not the person you hope they will become? Come here what the Lord has given Elder Robinson concerning this subject. Pre-Registration is requested!
Valentine Love:
“Date Night” Couples will have a five [5] course private dinner at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant. Couples have the opportunity to experience both fine dining and excellent wine while enjoying the company of their spouse, as well as, other Couples. Pre-Registration required and full payment must be received by February 5, 2012!

Prison Ministry
This program brings compassion, caring, and church services to inmates in correctional facilities in Illinois. In addition, SHSC donates items for the spiritual and mental edification of prisoners.

Wedding Coordination Ministry
Serves as liason between the wedding couple and the church, answering questions regarding the use of facilities before, during, and after the ceremony; is present for the both rehearsal and ceremony, providing hospitality to wedding party and guests; ensures that the church is left in proper order for the next liturgical service.

Bereavement Ministry
Reaches out to all those in the parish who have experienced the death of a loved one. Assists the family with funeral services if needed.

Sweet Holy Spirit Sign Language Ministry
We are excited! Excited about God! Excited about our kingdom assignment and excited about our church. Our pastor, Bishop Larry Darnell Trotter being lead by the Holy Spirit has once again made history by appointing (to our knowledge) the first deaf person to serve as Deacon over a predominately-hearing congregation. Our excitement continues for we are vessels used by God to interpret His spoken word into the beautiful language of the deaf. This is an awesome assignment we find both humbling and rewarding.
Mission Statement:
To interpret the spoken word of God into the target language most easily understood by our deaf and hard of hearing members.
To always, convey Gods’ spoken word in the tone and spirit of the speaker; omitting nothing and without interjecting personal opinion.
To respect the deaf and hard of hearing members culture.
To increase in Sign Language vocabulary and in the knowledge of God’s word; to interpret accurately and effectively; thereby providing our deaf and hard of hearing members the opportunity to achieve their God given purpose.
To hold all private interpreting assignments in and out of church confidential.
To adhere to all rules and regulations of the code of ethics that governs the interpreting field.
